Far Cry 3 Classic Edition Coming to PS4 and Xbox One This Summer, Free with Far Cry 5 Season Pass
Ubisoft have announced plenty of Far Cry 5 details today, but most interestingly is that a current-gen remaster of the critically-acclaimed open world shooter Far Cry 3, will be making it's way over to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer.
Far Cry 3: Classic Edition will launch as a standalone game sometime this summer, with it also being included for free and four weeks prior to it's standalone launch for purchasers of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass or Gold Edition. Multiplayer content is not included in the Classic Edition.
Additionally, new details have been revealed about what is included with Far Cry 5's season pass. The season pass will include three new expansions set in three completely distinct locations; Hours of Darkness, Dead Living Zombies and Life On Mars.
The first expansion is Hours of Darkness, which transports players to Vietnam to battle the Việt Cộng. Following is Dead Living Zombies, which will pit players against zombie hordes in a variety of B-movie scenarios. The final expansion is Life on Mars, where players will leave Earth behind to battle arachnids on the Martian surface.
While I'm primarily excited for Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, as Far Cry 3 is one of my all-time favourite open-world shooters, the three expansions for Far Cry 5 give of a very Blood Dragon-esque feel - which is undoubtedly one of the best DLC expansions ever made.
Far Cry 5 is set for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 27th, with Far Cry 3: Classic Edition launching sometime this summer for PS4 and Xbox One.
