Rockstar Games have revealed first details about the upcoming wild west adventure Red Dead Redemption 2's online component, officially called 'Red Dead Online'.

From the blog post over on the Rockstar Newswire, Red Dead Online is an evolution of the original Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer experience, which blends narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways.

Red Dead Online will be an ever-evolving live-service akin to that of Grand Theft Auto Online, using RDR2's gameplay as the foundation and giving players the freedom to explore alone or with friends.

Unfortunately, much like GTA Online, Red Dead Online will not be available at launch. Instead, it will release in Public Beta form in November in order to test it before an official launch.

Red Dead Online will be free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Back in February, details leaked on what Red Dead Online will entail, including GTA Online-esque activities such as gold mining, fishing and herding, purchasable houses in the form of tents, and even game modes such as Battle Royale. You can find more about these leaks here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
