A new update for Need for Speed Heat is on the way, with several new additions and Quality of Life improvements including the highly-requested ability to obtain the Polestar Hero Edition car.

Here are all the things you need to know about Need for Speed Heat Update 1.5, which will be launching tomorrow Thursday December 12th:

Holiday Vanity Items

New vanity items are being added to celebrate the holiday season, with two new horn sounds and two new underglows - one each themed for Christmas and New Years.

Quick Routing

Need for Speed Heat’s in-game phone app has seen an overhaul, not only making it much better for readability but also adding a Quick Route option which lets you mark the nearest safe house or gas station quicker as opposed to bringing up the map and marking them manually.

Speedwalls

Speedwalls will now be shown for Sprint Races, Circuit Races and Off-road Races, making it much easier to see who in your crew has the fastest time. This also applies for Drift Trails, where you’ll be able to see which crew member has the highest score.

Night Race Intros

In Update 1.4, several of the environment effects at the beginning of night races such as fog effects, car lights, flaming barrels etc. were removed for bug fixing. Update 1.5 has fixed the issue with these intros and has brought back these visual effects.

Polestar Hero Edition

At long last, the Polestar Hero Edition car is now finally obtainable in-game! Following this update, you will be able to unlock the Polestar Hero Edition car if you have completed all of Need for Speed Heat’s story missions: The main campaign and all four additional Driver Stories.

UI

  • When you exit or enter a garage, the “Enter Garage” prompt won’t suppress other HUD elements anymore. Which means you will see the map and speedometer as soon as you exit the garage.

  • As you build your rep and explore the map, you unlock activities and collectibles. We tweaked the UI to make it clearer that some of them are locked until you reach a certain Rep level.

  • When you’re customizing the performance parts of your car, you’ll now find a label informing you which part is currently equipped to that car / engine. It will also show how many of that specific part you own, and have a clearer call out when you’re buying a duplicate part.

Other

  • Some of you mentioned that you’re being busted while casually driving, albeit slowly - so we reduced the maximum speed that you can be busted at.

  • We also made a small tweak to the cop spawn mechanics in online play. Your experience should not be affected, there might just be fewer cop cars in areas without players.

There’s a huge list of bugfixes listed in the patch notes, which you can find over on the Need for Speed Reddit if you wish to find out more.

While this update is in no ways a huge content update, there are a ton of great new additions and Quality of Life improvements that overall make the game a much more enjoyable experience. While I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Polestar Hero Car, I wish it was obtained from completing all story missions AND collectibles to make it all the more rarer - but thats just me.

Need for Speed Heat Update 1.5 will launch December 12th between 9am-11am UTC and will weigh in between 2.45 GB-5 GB depending on platform.
