GTA Online Gets Big Underground Car Culture Update This Summer, PS5 and Series X Versions Release This November

Rockstar Games have revealed the ever-continuing liveservice GTA Online will be getting a huge new, underground car culture themed update this summer, in addition to new details and release date of GTAV and GTA Online Expanded and Enhanced versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Revealed in a new Rockstar Newswire post, an assortment of new updates to both GTA Online and Red Dead Online are on the way throughout May and the summer months, bringing some of the most frequently fan-requested additions to each game - along with a host of new items, quality of life updates, and much more.

GTA Online’s big summer update will bring back car culture to the streets of Los Santos in a huge way, with new opportunities for fans of performance and customization upgrades to get together to test and show off their rides including an all-new underground car meet - which is said to be “free from interference from authorities and other troublemakers.”

This car-culture focused update will include new additions to the local racing scene including a slew of new race types, as well as a high demand for stolen vehicles where players will take part in a series of high stakes, multi-part robbery missions that require a precisely modified getaway vehicle.

Rockstar also revealed that the eagerly anticipated next-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online - dubbed the Expanded and Enhanced version - will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year on November 11th, 2021.

The expanded and enhanced version will include new features and more that take advantage of the newer hardware, with GTA Online’s summer updates including special benefits for players to take advantage of in these expanded and enhanced versions when they drop this November.

Rockstar also revealed they’ll have more fun surprises to share in honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto III, including some specifically for GTA Online players.

Rockstar also reiterated that when the standalone version of GTA Online launches in November, it will be available for free exclusively to PlayStation 5 players during the first three months - with current PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 still able to claim GTA$1,000,000 each month until the PS5 version launches.
