After being delayed from its original ‘First Half of 2021’ release window to 2022, Polyphony Digital have officially revealed Gran Turismo 7 will launch on March 4th, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 - with an impressive and nostalgia-filled new trailer.

You can check out Gran Turismo 7’s shiny new trailer in pristine 4K Quality below:

GT Campaign mode returns in Gran Turismo 7, in what Polyphony calls a ‘newly designed way’. Players will start from the GT World Map, taking on multi-stage License Tests ranging from National B through to Super License and taking on courses across the globe like any traditional Gran Turismo game.

The new trailer touched on the returning Car Tuning and GT Auto section, which were absent from GT Sport, showcasing a new look at vehicle customization in Gran Turismo 7. Vehicles will come stock and can be built up gradually with various upgrades to engine performance, suspension, transmission gearing, brakes, tires, etc.

Car customization returns offering ‘Custom Parts’ to customize your vehicles appearance with custom spoilers, rims, roll cages, aerodynamic parts and even proper wide body kits as shown on the Honda NSX. Vehicle maintenance options in GT Auto include car wash, oil change, engine overhaul and rigidity refresh, which could suggest vehicles will wear over time much like Gran Turismo 5.

The Livery Editor from GT Sport returns in Gran Turismo 7, expanded and enhanced with new features as spotted by GTPlanet to set precise magnification and rotations values for decals as well as an opacity slider. Decals can now be placed on the windows to allow players to create their own windscreen banners.

Dynamic Time and Weather also makes a return after skipping GT Sport. Polyphony Digital has developed their own tech for simulating lighting and weather conditions, which is based on a massive amount of weather research data including from NASA. This allows Polyphony to replicate details like aerosol particles concentrations in a realistic manner to generate realistic clouds and lighting.

According to the official Gran Turismo 7 landing pages on the PS5 site, all “90+” of the launch track variations in the game will offer dynamic time and weather options.

The Used Car Dealership also makes a return after its GT Sport absence, offering used vehicles with a fair amount of mileage and potentially needing maintenance performed to them for a discounted rate. There’s another areas named ‘Brighton Auctions’ also shown which appears to be for selling classic and historic race cars.

The highly-popular photography mode Scapes from GT Sport has been greatly expanded in Gran Turismo 7, with 43 countries and 2500 locations to select from to capture your favourite vehicles - up from the 23 countries and 1200 locations found in GT Sport.

Polyphony also shared new details on the mysterious new ‘GT Cafe’ which first appeared on the World Map back in the Gran Turismo 7 announcement trailer. The GT Cafe is an area where players can navigate their GT adventure progress and car collection, with special missions that can be completed by winning or purchasing new cars.
