Gran Turismo 7 was revealed over a year ago during Sony’s Future of Gaming PS5 reveal event, and since then outside of announcements that the title will be pushed to 2022 and will also come to PS4, it’s been relatively quiet for the next gen sim racer.

However, it seems Sony is about to start showing more of Gran Turismo 7 quite shortly, with a PlayStation rewards website revealing that a beta could be right around the corner.

Over on the Experience PlayStation website - a website used in the past for game marketing campaigns where players could complete ‘Quests’ to unlock PSN avatars, themes or other items - you can find a Gran Turismo 7 themed quest, with the reward being a ‘Gran Turismo PS5 beta code’.

Completing the ‘quest’ requires you to watch at least 10 seconds of the original Gran Turismo 7 reveal trailer, which returns a non-usable “PS5 beta code” for Gran Turismo 7. The catch here that you may have noticed is that it clearly says ‘TEST’, however is definitely placeholder for…something, and a Gran Turismo beta is an oddly specific thing to tease.

Gran Turismo Sport had a closed beta which was exactly 7 months before the official launch, which kicked off on 17th March 2017 and released later that year on 17th October. With Polyphony remaining hush on its upcoming sim racer and under 5 months until 2022, it could be possible the studio could be gearing towards a big reveal and a closed beta to accompany it.

In the meanwhile, Polyphony recently added the 2021 Toyota GR 86 to Gran Turismo Sport last week as part of the latest 1.66 update if you’re currently itching for some Gran Turismo action, which you can watch the announcement trailer above.

Be sure to stay tuned for all the latest Gran Turismo 7 news, rumours and announcements as we gear towards 2022.
