PlayStation have officially announced a beta test for their next major PS4 system software update, update 5.00, which will begin Early August.

The news comes via the PlayStation Blog, stating PlayStation Technical Teams are hard at work creating "new features, updates and improvements" which will arrive in the next update. For people in EU regions, you can sign up here and for those in US regions you can sign up here.

The most recent major update, version 4.50, included much requested features such as custom wallpapers and external HDD support as well as UI refreshments for the quick menu and a PS4 Pro exclusive boost mode feature which improved performance for games without PS4 Pro updates.

As for what I'd like to see in version 5.00, I'd love to see Game Statistics and an Activity Log for tracking how many hours you've invested into a game, PlayStation Store Gifting, Wishlists and Refunds so you can purchase games or DLCs for a friend(s) if they have it on their wishlist, and request refunds on games you've played less than two hours and owned for less than two weeks like Steam/Xbox Live, Trophy Progression to see how far you are from unlocking a trophy, Best Friend FilteringQuick Reply to Messages received while in a game via Quick Menu, More PS4 Profile customization options and the ability to delete demos and betas from your library.

I'm always very excited whenever a new major PlayStation 4 update gets ready to drop and finding out what new features they contain. What would you like to see in System Software Update 5.00? Let us know down in the comments below!
